Award-winning Chef Michael Psilakis has been lauded for both his traditional and reinterpreted Greek menus and is responsible for putting Modern Greek cuisine on the culinary map. He owns five restaurants: Kefi and FISHTAG—both on the Upper West Side—as well as three locations of MP Taverna in Roslyn in Long Island; Irvington in Westchester and Astoria, Queens.
A tremendous cook, the chef’s mother taught him everything about the flavors and techniques of classic Greek cooking and remains his greatest influence in the kitchen. “Even today, the flavors of my dishes are my mother’s flavors,” says Psilakis. “And my instincts for taking Greek cuisine in new directions—these I’ve inherited from her.”
