SCHARFFEN BERGER Chocolate Maker was established in 1997 in San Francisco, California, and first earned national recognition for its bean-to-bar, artisan quality eating and baking chocolate in 1998. As one of the world’s finest chocolate makers who demands the highest quality cacao beans, SCHARFFEN BERGER sought the rigorous accreditation of the Rainforest Alliance, an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods in the communities in which SCHARFFEN BERGER beans are grown. All of our chocolate is composed of proprietary bean blends from up to nine different, Rainforest Alliance certified cacao-growing regions throughout the world. Each bar is carefully crafted to reflect the complex flavor profiles of the region from which it came, and can be enjoyed in a variety of cacao percentages and flavors.
