While October is usually known for pumpkin spice everything, we think this is a great month to branch out and try new things! Whether you’re looking for a fun recipe for Taco Tuesday, or want to donate to a great cause, we have a food holiday that is perfect for you! Celebrate with us and try these delightful dishes this month.
Chef Casey Thompson is known for her eclectic dishes inspired by her French and deep Southern roots. Her simple cooking philosophy of serving food that people want truly shines in the dishes she creates. With World Vegetarian Day in October, what better way to celebrate than by indulging in Chef Casey Thompson’s Mushroom, Broccolini, & Jack Cheese Custard Tart? Combining fresh broccolini with earthy mushrooms, fragrant rosemary and a hint of maple syrup, this tart is absolute perfection.
Tacos are one of the most versatile dishes that can really be crafted and changed to reflect your personal style and taste. With so many variations, it’s hard to pick just one taco recipe as our “go-to.” With that being said, we love a good seafood taco. Whether it includes fresh halibut, mahi mahi, or shrimp, the seafood taco is one of those refreshing meals that satisfies your taste buds. Our partners at Good Housekeeping brought us Chipotle Shrimp Tacos with Pico de Gallo and Green Jalapeño Hot Sauce, and we’re sure you’ll fall in love with them just like we did. Creating the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, these tacos are everything you’ll ever need wrapped up in a warm tortilla! For more taco suggestions to celebrate National Taco Day, click here.
Oh pasta, let us count the ways in which we love you. Pasta is the ultimate comfort food that happens to be one of our favorite fall go-to’s. When we heard National Pasta Day was coming up, it was difficult to choose which pasta recipe we’d like to feature. While we could write an entire blog solely about pasta, we decided to choose one of our new recipes from the American Diabetes Association that makes pasta accessible for all. This Whole Wheat Linguine with Pesto Chicken and Sun-Dried Tomatoes is colorful, flavorful and delicious. With bright bell peppers, earthy pesto and a kick of jalapeño, this linguine is sure to be a new family favorite whether you’re diabetic or just looking for a good meal!
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are so proud to be a sponsor of the Susan G. Komen’s Culinary Showdown in Los Angeles on October 22nd. With Chef Ben Ford competing in the Culinary Showdown, we thought it was only fitting to feature his Hanger Steak Salad with Marcona Almonds for National Nut Day. Now through May 2017, a portion of every purchase of Ben Ford’s meals will be donated to Susan G. Komen. Try this amazing steak salad with garlic, arugula, hearts of palm and Fresno chilies, and know you are eating for a great cause!
