March is a month that can’t decide what it wants to be. Lion or lamb? Winter or spring? Whichever one it turns out to be, it’s a great month to recall childhood favorites like sloppy joes (March 18th) or to indulge in a food that once grew in Henry VIII’s garden (March 16th). Check it out... this month, we’ve got a lot to celebrate.
On National Eat Your Noodles Day (March 11th), there are so many delicious ways to celebrate! But we're choosing to do our slurping with fettuccine, that gorgegous pasta cut into flat narrow strips or ribbons. Fettuccine has the perfect bite and pairs beautifully with all kinds of sauces, from traditional marinara to the light and elegant sauce featured in our Aegean Skillet Chicken from Buitoni.
Who doesn't love chicken noodle soup? Whether you're nursing a cold or just craving something warm and nourishing, a classic chicken noodle soup can be just what the doctor ordered. On National Chicken Noodle Soup Day (March 13th), you can find us curled up with a big bowl of our Kids' Chicken Soup (because who says the kids get to have all the fun?).
Harvested by the Greeks and Romans and a part of King Henry VIII's garden in the 1500's, the artichoke has a long and delicious history. On National Artichoke Day (March 16th), we'll be enjoying ours in Good Housekeeping's Chicken Sauté with Artichokes, which marries beautifully sautéed artichokes with chicken stock, parsley, lemon juice and butter to create a sauce fit for a king.
The sloppy joe. Sweet, tangy, meaty and, of course, messy! Best eaten with those who love you best (and will tell you if you have some stray sauce on your chin), our version from Allrecipes.com brings the perfect balance of the flavors you remember as a kid, but with grown-up flair. Better yet, our Sloppy Joe Sandwiches are paired with garlic steak fries, making this entire meal exactly the right way to celebrate National Sloppy Joe Day (March 18th).
